It will be a very interesting Dog show this year in Dade County, there is an interesting mix in the Terrier class. Braddock has two champion Jack Russel Terriers returning to fight for the Bulldogs, backed up by some other formidable Pups in the Kennel. Over at Homestead there is a Yorkshire Terrier ready to take a bite out of the competition, and couple other Airedale Terriers to back him up and set that program up for a future run at a title for their Kennel. Although they are just pups they will bite like more adult K-9’s . One Fox Terrier that has taken a while to grow his fangs might be ready to take a bigger bite for Coral Reef, though he will have competition like never before. Palmetto has a terrier of its own, this little Staffordshire Bull took a big step last year, and if he can stay away from too much Eukanuba he might find a class that suits his abilities and size as well as his desire. The South Dade Kennels hold champion dogs in many classes, they have studs in the Hound Class, the Working Class, and the Terrier Class, and they have added some new dogs in the sporting class that could regain them top Prize at the State Dog show this year. Sunset has a Newfoundland from the Working breed that can help retain the Heavy Weight crown that belongs in Dade County. Over on the North end, Hialeah's kennels have been depleted, and their trainer has moved west but they still will have a nice Doggy or two, and with help of a trainer with a nice pedigree himself, they should not slide too far. So now the Trainer that was working for Hialeah Kennels has a new stable all his own and calls it American Kennels, it seems he will have a large contingent in the Herding class, and we shall have to see how quickly he can get them to herd the way he likes. The Explorer Kennels have a couple of stalwarts in the Terrier Breeds themselves, but one has not yet lived up to the pedigree left by his older brother. This little terrier needs to grown up and have his sack drop so he can represent his name like his older sibling. The other Terrier is more ready and less apt to thrown a tantrum, this could be the year he places at the show. The Spartan Kennels have loaded up with k-9’s in various classes, especially the Sporting class and the Working class but they have a terrier or two that can compete. And lets not forget the Eagle Kennels, last few years they have had some surprises, this year they return a pair of Herders from the same litter, as well as a Terrier that has grown more confident, and a possible stud in the working class. This is going to be a great year for Dade County Dogs, especially if one of our Own Kennels can bring back the big prize, the last few years the Orlando Kennel has dominated, but they seem to borrow the top dogs in the area for the big show, I think this year even with the borrowed dogs, they will not have enough for the Dade Kennels. I know it’s no secret that I love Dogs, what could be more satisfying than to see a dog from your kennel or from the kennel you support win best in Show? Dogs make life more livable just by being themselves, and if you don’t have your own dogs, you should seriously look into getting some, you can thank me later.
