A GAME OF CAT and MOUSE

We all know there are a lot more mice than there are cats, and we also know that most mice have too much respect for the cat, and the danger and risk of an encounter with a cat outweighs the reward that could come from doing so. But what some of the braver and smarter mice have figured out is that the cat is old, probably lame, and could likely be suffering from feline leukemia.

Enough with the cryptic stuff, if you didn't already guess, the FHSAA is as the cat and the schools are the mice. Which mouse is champion in his sport year in and year out specifically correlates with their ability to risk an encounter with the cat. Yeah this is a wrestling message board, but to think it's just Oviedo and Brandon who are smart enough to circumvent the system is myopic, it goes on in every sport, in every division, and in every region of the state. To grasp the reality of it, let's take a quick sample (sorry I don't have the luxury of a more telling and in depth study)

FOOTBALL

OK, who won state titles last year in football?

6A North Western - Used an ineligible player, one who should have been expelled from school for sexual assault on a minor, but it was covered up until the Title was in hand. No to mention that they have as many as 12 players there that belong at other schools like Central, Jackson, and Edison just to name a few. And now that Billy Roll is the coach, forget about it, he has a history of thumbing his nose at the FHSAA and the G.M.A.C. He imported so many players at Killian that neighborhood kids quit because they were never going to see the field. So what did he achieve? Only Killian's first and likely last State title. So it was worth it? HELL YEAH! What did the FHSAA do? Noting! What could they do?

5A Lakeland - I won't talk about them because I don't have all the facts, and I don't want to use hearsay, but I'm sure many of you out there can bring some facts on how this team has become a recent power. I will talk about STA the runner up though; they are so far up every decent player in Broward's butt (and some in North Dade) that they are considering changing their mascot to a Colonoscopy scope. What did the FHSAA do? Noting! What could they do? Let's move on to another sport or this article will be 10 pages long.

Basketball

OK who was the state champion in Basketball?

6A Ely - A Mecca for basketball, if you live in Broward or North Dade and you are too big and Lanky for football, forget STA and go to Ely. Year in and year out, the tallest most talented players in Broward seem to end up at Ely even though they went to junior high way out of that zone, and year in and year out, Ely is in the hunt for the Basketball title. Miami high spent years upon years thumbing their noses and laughing all the way to 5 state titles while the FHSAA was powerless to stop them. What did the FHSAA do? Noting! What could they do?

3A Pace - AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The only school in Miami that recruits more than Pace is Columbus, with Gulliver coming in a close 3rd, but making strides to overtake the other two.

Baseball

It would be hard for me to talk about the teams that won state title in Baseball last season because they are all well north or well west of Miami, so I will tell you about some teams in the past.

Columbus - only one of the best recruiting schools in the state LOL!!!.

Hialeah - Had a Cuban escapee pitcher that was rumored to be as old as 21 his junior year, it was subsequently discovered by MLB and a portion of his pro contract was returned because the player was older than the team that signed him thought he was when he signed. I’m sure some of you have other insights into baseball, traditionally the most corrupt of sports, so bring the info, I’d love to hear it.What did the FHSAA do? Noting! What could they do?

Soccer

Since Varela opened its doors, the best and brightest soccer stars were attracted there by the facilities and by the promises of the little league soccer coaches that aligned themselves with that school. Varela took Sunsets place in that regard and Sunset the biggest offender prior to the arrival of Varela dared to question Varela’s integrity, which really was quite a laugher in these parts. West Kendall might as well Be South America, the mix of athletes from Soccer countries there is second to none in the United States, and when you can get the best 7 or 8 prospects to go to one school, you have something special, that was Varela’s formula. What did the FHSAA do? Noting! What could they do?

And Last but not least...

Drum roll please…………………………………………...

Wrestling

Obviously I am most knowledgeable about this sport, and all I could say to you, you would likely already know, so lets just do a little memory flash, Marco Toledo and Franklin Gomez just to name a few for Brandon, Brandon Hatchette is most memorable but lets not forget Fraga for Oviedo. Columbus is on the path to a title soon, as they continue to pillage from all over Dade County, with the Godfather pulling in the Gulesian brothers the Rio brothers and host of others.

The Formula is Simple

If you want to win you better skim. Don't worry about the FHSAA they can't do anything anyway, assuming of course you have the right lawyer, judge, inside connection, or all your T's crossed and I's dotted so when they come to ask politely, you can look them in the face and lie. Don't worry, they won't know the difference the FHSAA is just a tired old and lame cat. That the FHSAA is not perfect goes without saying; that they are inefficient as much as they are ineffective is painfully apparent. But they have a ton of success in enforcing the rules on schools which are loath to break them. In their defense, how can you stop an organization that understands the rules better than they who wrote them? To further support the FHSAA I say, how do you stop organizations that have better litigators than the FHSAA does? And is the FHSAA to blame because that they may not be as sympathetic to some judge as a poor affected child just trying to make a better way in life. Finally, can you blame the FHSAA if some of their own members facilitate the cheating because some of the schools in question have connections deep inside the very organization meant to keep the playing field level? I think the FHSAA would argue that 99% of schools are in compliance and that is a great track record, the problem is the FHSAA fails to realize that the 1% of schools that circumvent their policies are the ones winning the State titles.

Thank God ???
