The Power of Dade

By: Dr. doom

Every year it surprizes me how much talent is in dade county. Just when you think Dade is going to have a down year fresh new faces pop up and surprize everybody. American High has already impressed me. They just went from being a school with maybe one good wrestler to a very respectable team. I mean just the fact that they showed up on time is a major improvement. Love him or hate him that Tuban-Cuban does a helluva job! A few names that are going to do some damage in the near future are Earl Hall, Mattie Noffo, Mauricio Villanueva, Quint McPhearson as well as a few of them HML kids. It is good to finally have all the super heros and super villians on the same site. Thanks Spidey for making it happen. It looks to be an interesting year.DR DOOM

Great insight Doc. I was under the impression that Columbus was the second best team in the county this year. Looking at the possible line up of Southridge I can see that they may be challanging for the secon place regional trophy. I liked the HML kids, they were tough and aggressive just like Coach Turnip likes them. It's clear he's spent the whole summer getting much better and younger. One last run? maybe.

South Ridge is going to be real tough. I don't think anybody knew how many kids they had coming back. Lubin, Morales, Transfer; (Ricky Fonte), Molina, Silva, Plains, Passamore, Chunga, Lil' Lily and Twin @ HWT! If I had to do my preseason rankings right now this is how it would look;
1- South Dade
2- Southridge
3- Braddock
4- Southwest
5- Columbus
5- Palmetto
7- American
8- HML
9- Sunset
10- Homestead

I am in the process of sending the web spinner my own list of dade teams and where they rank. As I read your list I see that great minds do think alike. Hopefully the spider will be able to post it soon.

I was thinking about postin it here with you but I think the eight legged freak will do my post justice with his unique pictures and graphics. I guess we will have to wait.

You are making my diploma look awesome.

I hope for Colombus's Sake that he is not a student there, else they must look into revising her curriculum.

Everytime I hear about academic standards and Columbus it makes me cringe! Columbus' academic standards aren't any higher than say the average public school. Southwest, Sunset, Braddock all are on par with Columbus' academics. If anyone says any different they are either an alum of Columbus or full of sheet! In fact many below average student-athletes are more and more influenced to go to private schools so they can avoid the FCAT. I am so tired of hearing that the academics at private schools are so much better than public school and then hear a coach tell an athlete that if he goes to a private school he doesn't have to pass the FCAT. You can't have it both ways! The only possible advantage of a private school might be the smaller class sizes. If you are going to a private school for academics you better be going to Ransom Everglades or you are probably wasting your money!

Well said Doom, Well said. I think Cardinal Gibbons also makes for a good private school as well as St. Thomas Aquinas and a few others. I agree that their standards are not as high as they claim but as a whole, they do seem better than public schools.
