Wow thanks for the spotlight and great pic by the way. I saw the Herald today and looked over the teams and rankings. I noticed in the 1A for Pace that their state runner-up Metellus was not mentioned. I know you have good sources spider and none have confirmed, but isn't that a little odd? Sand bag, maybe so. Why wouldn't that kid be on your list in the herald rankings? I've never seen California for myself, but I know they have beaches there. Know what I mean? Regardless, the question isn't if he as at SD or not, the real question is why would he leave Pace? Frank Pelegri does a hell of a job with those kids even though he's a little nuts. All his kids seem to take a liking to him. Unless something happened outside of their control, that's a screwed up thing to do to your coach.
To spotlight you is my pleasure; if you can add enjoyable and pertinent content to my Blog then I and my readers are the true beneficiaries.
I saw the Herald as well, and noticed the same thing. The thing is unless I am mistaken; the coaches fill some form and send it to the Herald. Its possible Matellus was not included for some reason on Pace’s form, maybe the coach wanted to spot light different wrestlers or something. I doubt it, but that may be one explanation. Furthermore, Matellus may have left Pace but that would not by default put him at SD. So far two sources have confirmed that they have not seen him with the team, but my insider is silent which makes me curious. It could be that he has not checked his e-mail; it could be that he has not had time to respond, but it could also be that he does not want to say one way or another. Ever hear the expression the silence is deafening?
All is quiet in the Spider's lair. The silence is deafening, you're right. It's still early, not much to talk about, right? Let's see Miami High 78, Norland 6, no surprise here Miami High 54, Varela 16, pretty big margin here. Miami High has some scrappy kids and Guzman is for real. Hope he can get something together at 112, doesn't seem to be headed for 103. He's exciting to watch and is definitely a go-getter. Coach Gonzalez is doing a good job with that team. I wish them the best.
Yeah things are a little quiet right now but it's cyclical. Some days it's too much to keep up with, others not so much. When the season gets in gear we will have more to talk about.
I truelly believe that Metellus can beat the Rat, so SD better hope he does not land in a school with a decent coach. By the way, Congrates to Coach Gonzalez of Miami High, he is doing a great job.
I think the real question is who will win the wrestle off and who will have to go down in weight? Ha, I knew it. My magneto senses were tingling. That's great for SD if Metellus is in there and he is eligible. I can see the damage they can make anywhere they go. That is if no one creates a ruckus about it. I'm sure Balmaceda crossed his t's and dotted his i's for this one. Osorio could take some tips from "B" on this. So unless SD chokes or Oviedo has an Ace, it looks like the Bucs are bringing it back to Dade.
With an ego as big as Balmaceda's it is no surprise to ponder the significance of ending the streak to him. If I were a betting man, I would think that this has priority over a state title. Then again if his troops are strong enough to beat the streak, then a state title will be a walk in the park.
We agree yet again but with one difference. I believe ending the "Streak" is only worthwhile to "B" if it is accompanied by a state title, I don' think he would trade a title for ending the "Streak". However, as you mentioned, if they end the "Streak" a state title should be a mere formality.
Think about it...First of all, without argument he is a great coach...yet "B" loves to be center of attention and what better way to be in the center than to end a 30 something-year-old streak in front of a howling mad audience, televised by a historical documentary? I bet he would trade in a state title for that without a second thought. There will be other state titles, but with the line-up he has now (Metellus included), this is a chance to make history. I'm sure he reminds his kids of that everyday.
You are not the only one to have that opinion. Coach Reggie had that same feeling at Rat and Wilson stepped on the mat at the first Southridge tournament. The result was a decisive win by Rat. I believe by 6 points or so.
It is amazing how many people still underestimate Rat.
I think Metellus would have a hard time cracking that line-up for tournaments, but for a dual where you can weigh in multiple wrestlers at one weight class and then play a nice game of cat and mouse with the opposition... Well I think you see what I am getting at, bump a guy up or down move somebody here or there and you are in a nice position of power.
I like the way this is coming together... Assuming of course Mettellus is cleared.
Not sure if we actually disagree, because truth is if SD is capable of defeating Brandon, then a state title should be, like you said, a formality. I believe the harder of the two is Brandon.
I agree with KW, Rat is a monster. I would never underestimate him. Metellus is for real though. I know the score was by a wide margin at the ridge tournament, but Metellus has the potential to beat rat. Sometimes in a close match people will do crazy things to win at the end that can cost you big points. This point creates an interesting topic of conversation. How would Metellus and the rest of the SD line up look now? What weights exactly will everyone fall in to for states? If he is clear, i'm sure he would be a major point scorer for the Bucs.
Absolutely defeating Brandon would be the harder of the two, and like I said, if they can do that, winning state would be a formality. yet I don't believe given the choice, "B" would trade a win over Brandon for a state title. I could however be wrong and this is a moot argument.

Is Dewberry coaching at Homestead as well?

Anonymous,
The question is whether Metellus is going to be team mates with the rat.
How can Metelis go to SD? Isn't that against some rule?
Anonymous,
Yeah so was Hatchette going to Oviedo; but he still won a state title in an Orange singlet, and helped them with another team trophy.

Magneto,
I don't think this is about winning a state title, I think it's more about ending a "streak".
There are no T's crossed or I's dotted as of yet, there is an ongoing process... Therefore the hush hush.

Magneto,
So we finally disagree on something.
I don't think he would trade a win over Brandon for a state title, I think in the long run the State title means more than defeating one team.

KW,
I agree with KW, of course he should know right.
I think Metellus would have a hard time cracking that line-up for tournaments, but for a dual where you can weigh in multiple wrestlers at one weight class and then play a nice game of cat and mouse with the opposition...
