Patriots Roll!

Those of you who doubted Osorio can remove some of the doubt right now. The Patriots thrashed a veteran Cavaliers team with a 48 point drubbing. American lost only two matches; one as expected to Montero, and another match on what my source tells me was a fluke roll that earned a pin.

Call him what you will, sticks and stones I say; the guys is a winner, and I would not have believed his opener against an experienced Gables team would go this well.

Take note out there, while American may not be a top 3 team right now, I think they could quickly move into the top 5. You Osorio haters would do well to put some dressing on the Crow, American is for real.

Congratulations to the Patriots on their win(s). Even though Coral Gables & Edison are hardly a measure of great achievement, it seems like a good start. I agree Spidey, American is probably a bit under rated right now, but public opinion will probably soon change. I have a great Idea for a topic. How about one where tournament and match results can be posted. That would be very informative and will make for some great comments. This seems like the perfect time for it with the Seahorse coming up.

Congratulations to Osorio on his first Patriot win. But, We will see how good his team really is against a tough team like SD, Bra, SR, HS or SW. Must say, nice start.

Are you kidding? You are going to brag about American beating Gables. Seriously, veteran Gables team. Have you looked at their team? I think you are blowing this American win up to much.

set him up make him fall. spiderman is osorio. love is in the air.

Anonymous,

That's a new one. 10 points for originality for you. You are just 40 points away from a free trip to idiotville. I am not Osorio, never have been never will be, but if I were Osorio, I would say "I am not Osorio, never have been never will be."

Anonymous,

Last time I looked at the Gables team they were loaded with Jr. High county champs and placers. Among them Obviously Montero and the Jerez brothers, but there are others who's names elude me at the moment. Say what you will, the Gables team is experienced, and the margin of victory by which American beat them is a good indicator of Osorio's effectiveness as a coach.

Someone stated that beating Coral Gable's is nothing to brag about but who's American, they never won anything or beat anyone. Have to give some credit to Osorio, but to earily to tell how good his team really is, but for sure their team is better then year's past. Time can only tell. Does anyone know when, and where is thier next match?

Spider,

I would love to jump with you on the bandwagon but I can't. It is way to early to appoint greatness to American. There are too many powerhouses in Dade right now to concentrate on one man or team. I can't wait to see if South Dade can actually return the State title back home to Dade. What about the streak? Will it come to an end? What about South Dade v. Braddock. A match filled with storylines and intrigue. It is a nice win for Osorio and his crew but not newsworthy so far. I will leave a window open to see how they finish.

Spiderman said...

Moonie,

I did not say anything about the greatness of American, what I said was that I can see them moving into the top 5 at some point. I think you overestimate team strength in Dade. I stick by my prediction, American will be a top 5 team by seasons end.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

Well stated, I don't think American has ever beaten anyone by 48 points, much less Gables.

American has been an untapped talent pool for years. The coaching situation has cost several kids the success they could have achieved.

Osorio could have done well without the influx of Hialeah (and Krop) kids to.

Tommy Perez should already be a 2 time state qualifier, but previous coaches have not brought him along the way he should have progressed. Plus, they never showed up on time for weigh ins.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

I agree about the untapped talent, well stated.

But whatever do you mean about not making it on time for weigh-ins? A team is required to show up on time or forfeit unless there are extenuating circumstances. I don't believe a team could have a pattern of arriving late without sanction so you are surely exaggerating something that may have been an isolated incident.

Moon Knight said...

Spider,

Any good matches to look forward to this week. How about any tournaments. I hope there will be something to talk about before the meeting of South Dade and Braddock.

Anonymous said...

Dade Challenge, GMAC, Region. I would call that a pattern.

American had "bus problems" for all of these events. I think they skipped the entire saturday portion of the Dade Challenge.

Moonie,

That is not my department, I am leaving that stuff to KW, hopefully he will have updates and previews for us soon.

Stay tuned.

Anonymous,

Ouch! You are correct I think, I seem to remember something of that being mentioned, I just never made it an issue.

Thanks for reminding, I take back what I said.

I'm not sure of any big matches yet this week, but I will check.

The 2 I'm looking forward to are: Wed Dec 5 Palmetto @ South Dade and Thur Dec 6 Southridge @ Braddock.

Followed the following week by Tues Dec 11 American @ Braddock

There is actually a very interesting duals this weekend. The Dodd Duals at Miami Senior High. American, South Miami, Sunset, Homestead, Miami High, Varela, NMB, Killian. I'm pretty sure this weekend will clear up a lot of the smoke which has made it very difficult to breath lately. For some of these teams it will be a chance to show what they are really made out of. I expect there to be several unexpected endings. This might not be important to the elite programs out there or the ones that think they are, but for these 8 coaches, it is.

CoachKW said...

There are not many matches this week.

There are 2 top 20 battles on Wed.

#12 Miami High @ #10 Goleman (with Killian thrown in for a tri)

#16 Coral Reef @ #7 Palmetto.

Each of these matches should have some good battles.

Thursday there is a private school tri. Belen and Mater @ Curley.

As anonymous mentioned you have the 2nd Annual Dodd Duals (this year at Miami High) on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday is the umpteenth annual Palmetto JV Duals.

Out of town this weekend #2Southridge and Coral Reef head up to East Lake. While #4 Southwest, #3 Braddock and #1 South Dade all travel to the very tough Durant Inivitational.

All of these rankings are from the Miami Herald pre season rankings.

Anonymous,

A very nice Dual Tourney to start the season indeed.

A match-up between Homestead and American should be very interesting.

Do you know what the format is?

I imagine Homestead and American will be away from eachother?

CoachKW said...

Anonymous,

I do not see Homestead listed on the master schedule as attending the Dodd Duals, but it wouldn't make sense with out them.

If that is the case there should be some excellent duals meets this weekend, along with individual match up.

#6 American vs #9 Homestead might be the best match up, but don't be suprised if #8 Sunset makes some noise.

103 could have Hall, Bentancourt and possibly Harris. If not you will get to see Harris and Guzman at 112. Plus Dade County's top ranked 145 Raymond Watson (Hom), 160 George Garcia (Am), 2nd ranked 189 Tommy Perez (Am) and 3A top ranked (in the state) heavy Michael Chinchilla (Sum).

CoachKW said...

Spidey last year it was round robin. I believe every team is to wrestle every other team there. So each team should get 7 matches in 2 days.

Spiderman said...

KW,

Thanks for the info.

WOW! 7 duals in two days that's awesome. There are some very interesting possibilities.

I'm uncertain why American was placed so high on the rankings. They shouldn't have been placed above Homestead, Sunset, or Palmetto. It's obvious that they now pocess a new and improved coaching staff but I have serious doubts on the effectiveness of a new system in this short time frame. Maybe too much credit is being given to this untested program.

Anonymous said...

Obviouly, You haven't been to any tournaments this past summer. American, Southridge, and Braddock looked strong, well coached. There were no signs of Palmetto, or Sunset and for Homestead those kids looked like South Dade boys. That's always a good sign. My prediction is that American will be in the top 3 at Regionals.

Anonymous said...

Strong prediction from you. Apparently I'm not well versed on the summer tournaments. I still feel that maybe too much has been made of the American team. It's my sentiment that perhaps team such as Homestead, Palmetto, and Sunset have been disrespected in some way. These programs are well established with prominent coaches who have done very well every year. It stuns me that more credit isn't given to those other well coached and established programs, while a new team with a new staff is given perhaps too much credit. This clouded topic should be cleared in some respect after the matches this weekend. I'm hoping the results will appear in this blog.

Anonymous1,

Or is it Anonymous2, maybe is Anonymous3, who the hell can keep it all straight. Get a name will you. Get over to Miami High and watch the matches and then come back and tell us what happened. I will not be able to make it, or maybe I will be there hiding in the shadows, so for those of us who are very interested but cannot make it come back on monday and let us know. Hey Spider, since you are going to be there in the rafters let us know what you see.

Anonymous said...

We are finally going to see who is who this weekend. I think people should refrain from trying to predict and keep their eyes open because you will see some tough matches. Sunday morning we'll see stands alone.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

I guarantee you the results will be posted on this Blog.

Spiderman said...

Moonie,

I can neither confirm nor deny that I will or will not be there.

Can we please talk about a different team and coach. I'm aware that American is turning heads but come on I'm tried of Osorio and American, it's getting boring.
