South Shade ???

I have had lots of angry e-mails asking me why I have not commented on the situation at South Dade. The truth is there lots of hearsay, and lots of finger pointing, but I have yet to confirm much.

Here are the alleged recruits, and the facts that I have been able to confirm.

Isiah Varona – Always was going to South Dade, applied to the Magnet program early last year and was accepted.

Robert Rojas - Always was going to South Dade, applied to the Magnet program early last year and was accepted.

Gabriel Mardel – Rumored to be to be on his way south but he remains at Doral Academy

Andres Montero - He left Sunset and transferred to SD and apparently has already been through the infamous 8-track (AETRAC) and has been cleared to participate.

Wilson Metellus – I don’t understand the problem with this one, he was there last year and it was not a problem, he has been cleared to participate. There is one source promising to give me game breaking information but he says he is going to hold onto it for now. I don’t know what it could be, maybe that he is an illegal alien or something, it sounds ominous to hear it told, but for now it is a non issue to me.

Earl Hall - He still attends Robert Morgan Senior High but it is rumored that he will be a Buc this year. However, that is yet to be proven since the wrestling season has not started and he is not enrolled at South Dade. If he has changed residence and now resides within SD’s boundaries I really don’t see a problem here either. A lot will be made of recruiting, but what can anyone really prove is what will matter.

Didley Weche – State champ from Pace, just another ugly rumor as confirmed to me by a source earlier today. Apparently he went to some tournament with Metellus and the word spread that he was now aboard the South Dade ship, but my source assures me he is still at Pace

Someone else tells me that another 1 or 2 kids have possibly defected from Homestead to South Dade, but did not provide any names so there is really no way to verify their speculation and it is not worth the conjecture.

So there is lots of speculation and lots of allegations, but so far no one can thrown anything out that sticks.

Lets forget the negative talk.

Best teams

1.SD just unstopable
2.AM strong coaching
3.COL a lot of help and coaches
4.MH seems crazy but isn't great young man running things
5.SR always puts something together
6.SUN excellent coach
7.BRA only has the chandlers
8.SW working hard in offseason will bring this team back
9.HML tough group of guys coming back hope they can finish

My take on the 1st post by anonymous:
1) Agree, SD are head and shoulders above the competition.
Gaining Montero, Varona, Rojas, and possibly Hall will pay off BIG TIME in a couple of years.

Montero has a lot of potential, he just did not fit in with Sunset and its system.

2)American or Columbus will be #2 or #3. I feel American and Osorio has definitely built that team to where they are, where Columbus has recruited first, and then further built their program. Sorry, not an even playing field.

Watch out for that tough sophomore at American perez who wrestled 125 last year. He may surprise some folks probably at 130 or 135 this year.

4-10 is up in the air in my opinion. Miami High can possibly be at 4 with some tough returners led by Guzman who I project to be at 119, but just read that he may be at 112.

*SR- Johnson is a good coach, but I am not sure what is going on there. Just seems he cannot take it to another level. I am curious about the Ridge this year.

*Sunset-Yes, excellent coach, but the loss of Montero will not help. Rivera always manages to produce some studs and this year I think it will be Wilfred Perez leading the way probaly at 140.
Let me add, I believe Coach Rivera is probably one of the most honest and ethical coaches in Dade.

*Braddock- They may surprise some people. They definitely have in the past when critics counted them out. This year though, I just continue seeing them decline. They will be led by the Chandler twins. I just hope the coaches are as committed and loyal to Eric Chandler in his SR year this year as Eric is committed to them. Rumorville has it that the coaches made a BIG BLUNDER last year in not putting Eric in a good position to win a state title last year again. 2nd is not bad though. I will have to dig deeper into this.

*Southwest- I am not sure what happened to them last year. It just seemed as if they collapsed and were plagued with many injuries. Rumorville has it that Oliveira may have gotten too big and will not be anywhere near 112; that is if he wrestles this year.
The eagles will be led by Uxsunn Ramirez a 2x state runner-up, and his brother who is almost equally as talented but was stuck in a tough 130 pound weight class last year where all 4 dade county qualifier placed at states.

*HML- I will never count out Turner and Borgen as they are 2 of the most intense coaches around. It seems as if they usually have 2 or 3 studs. I think there middle weight will be tough 125-152 more or less.

*Palmetto- The panthers went through a rebuilding year last year. But you know, when they do reappear on the scene they do it quietly and and before you know it they are again a top 5 or top4 team in Dade. I don't have much insight on Palmetto. Again, I don't think many people do.

*South Miami- What has happened to them. They seem to have been rebuilding the last 3 years or so. Was Miret that good of a coach, or is it that Pardo does not have a feeder program going. Can't figure this one out. I will tell you though, Pardo CAN COACH, and if he has the right group, I think he can have kids that will surprise people. Does he still have it, or has he lost his motivation.

*One final point, if George Gulesian and Jake Rio from Columbus wrestle and perform like I think they will this year, and Noffo makes an impact at 112, I think Columbus will be the 2nd best team in Dade and possibly a top 5 finish at Lakeland.

Seriously we gotta stop talking about Columbus, South Dade, and American. Yes, they win and they have great programs, good for them. We already know how they win, whether its true or not. Whether you say some positive or negative about them you are still mentioning them. Phuck them let them do whatever they want. Take care of your $h!t and punch them in the mouth when you face them. If they beat you, phuck them again, start getting ready for the next time you see them. It's not about them it's about you and your program and your kids. Leave the ass kissing for KW and the whinning to someone other than yourself.

I was advised to peruse this site yesterday by a well known associate of mine in my current endeavors. He had stipulated that contained within this site was current and quite interesting information. As I sit here glancing at the comments made and remarks written by a multitude of anonymous poster I feel compelled to enter my own statement. I am perplexed at how anonymous people shame themselves by insulting, degrading, and generally disrespecting some of the coaches in Dade County.

Once again I read attacks on Coach Osorio of American High and his inability to control his urinary impulses. Yet again he is accused of recruiting and of hoarding some of the best talent in Dade over the summer. This man and his diminutive assistant have done miracles in schools that have never and may never again be known for their wrestling prowess. Accusations of his arrogance and presumptuousness fill the screen as if the other coaches worth naming were not afflicted with the same malady. Throughout the commentary I have yet to see or understand why he is such a reviled human being in this sport and county. This sport of ours is amongst the greatest practiced today. It would be wise of us not to disenfranchise anyone from it by callous commentary much less someone of his capabilities. Although I don’t believe that he is bothered by the comments made here, I can’t imagine him being overjoyed at them either. Especially when the entrenched and established powers of Jim Husk and Victor Balmaceda allegedly recruited more than a just a few of the best talents in Dade over the summer.

As it pertains to Victor Balmaceda and what some have coined as South Shade, I hope that he has not fallen prey to that old adage of “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. If what has been advertised on this site is proven true then the actual sport of wrestling should be completely abolished in Dade County. One of the many anonymous posters mentioned something along the lines of a golden pit bull watching over him. I am going to assume that particular barb was a jab at the current GMAC director Sheryl Golden. If she is really allowing any school to circumvent the laws, policies, and regulations, set forth by the county then not only should she step down as GMAC director but the school who’s been the beneficiary of such nepotisms should be banned from competition and its Athletic Director and Head Coach suspended if not plainly fired. To monopolize the talent pool in a way to allow for one school to completely dominate the county landscape just for the sake of keeping the State Title here in Dade, as some have stipulated, would be such a grave act that no school, coach, wrestler, or parent, should be forced to endure.

Columbus has also been mentioned as a culprit in the hoarding of talent in the county. Mr. Jim Husk has had a history of allegations that have followed him from his previous post to his most current one at Columbus Preparatory. I am compelled to think that for some reason a private school has the right and ability to recruit and raid the talent pool in the county simply because they are not part of the public school system. In stating that I am sure that I am both wrong and incorrect in that line of thought. I am sure that some will rise to correct me and state the many laws that prohibit a private school from attaining talented athletes and therefore monopolizing a sport. Given all the rules and regulations in place to avoid such matters, it just seems incredibly apparent that a guardian angel or a magnificent lawyer has dotted all his I’s and crossed all his t’s in order to legally circumvent those very same laws. What does all this mean to the rest of the county’s coaches and athletes? I shudder to think of the repercussions that would ensue if these allegations prove to be true and are not rectified.

I highly doubt that anyone will be able to bring about proper and justified change to this situation. The lines of right and wrong blur when the establishment is asked to inquire about improprieties that may have been committed by the darlings of the sport and county. I would sincerely hope that righteousness resurfaces in this county and that people in power take the necessary actions in order to right the wrongs that some have alleged. If the allegations prove to be unfounded then Dade County will rue the day they crossed Jim Husk or Victor Balmaceda. Both are incredible assets to this sport and have contributed countless hours to helping the youth of our great county to achieve great dreams and move on to higher education and formidable careers.

Taking care of your own is as old as living in caves. Balmeceda wrestled at South West when Golden was the AD (and/or) trainer there, I am sure she feels a kinship to him, and he does provide the state titles she longs for. However, I believe if she were handed solid evidence of wrongdoing that she would fulfill her responsability and hand out sanctions as prescibed. So all you haters need to do is bring something to the table or if you are not willing to doanything about it, shut your Yap!

Don't hate, congratulate! Get off South Dade's jock. There ain't a team in dade county who hasn't benefited from a move in or two or three or six. The Ridge has done it, Palmetto back in da dayz done did it, South Miami has got a few, Hialeah, and now American. I dare ya'll to name me a team that is worth 50 cent who hasn't had a move in or transfer. Ya'll just mad cuz even when Da Dade wasn't a magnet skool they were still whippin all yo asses.

Don't even get me started on Columbus. They set up a friggin tent at the middle school district and counties inviting kids to come to there skool.

"Dade county i never meant to hurt yooooou i never meant to make you cry but tonight i'm cleaning out my closet"

It is a fact that success brings jealousy and backbiting who are less successful in acheiving their goals. These people's self excusatory reasoning is that the sucessful ones must be cheating.Wow.What a crock of Steaming excrement. These Quislings should look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are putting in the work and effort to succeed most of the time the answer is no.And about recruiting,it's not recruiting if people want to join a successful organization,it's human nature

Everyone knows that the recruiting goes on. We wouldn't have a state title down here if that were to change. Osorio recruited since Hialeah (Gabe Espinoza was a failed attempt) LOSER! Husk, Balmeceda, they all do it. Its the other schools like HML, Miami High, Goleman, Palmetto that "just produce and don't recruit"...thats my motto don't dare take it
