So who is going to email this to cgolden@dadeschools.net and to the fhsaa. Create a fake email account and do it. I am going to. I think everyone should so that they can recieve many emails at once. Who has the fhsaa email? The time is now and we have to work together. This is getting ridiculous. Build your own wrestlers or get out.
Wow Spiderman, you really made it easy for those who want to report Columbus on recruiting charges. Now, it is up to individual coaches or AD to step up if they choose to and report it, or not report it and continue complaining.
On the other side of the coin, Columbus can always claim that they have a USA wrestling club open to all and it is not affiliated with their school. So that can always be a defense to alleged recruiting.
Bottom line is, we all know that they are blatantly recruiting. The questions are- Will they be reported, and will there be consequences.
You guys don't have $hit on us. Keep crying.
djarp
You guys are as wet as a woman's tampond, get a life.
Rio Sr. just in case
would that be your womans tampon?
Jim Husk
Crying? If we have learned anything from the Pena family it is how to cry :.(....
Watcher,
If they have a USA club that's fine, but a wrestler who shows up to their practice and travels with them as part of their organnization before being a student at their school can not then transfer into that school.
It is a clear violation, ignorance is never a viable defense. I can guarantee you right now that if the F.H.S.A.A. or the G.M.A.C. investigates this, none of those four individuals will be eligible at Colubus next year.
Furthermore, if they turn up at Columbus, Columbus will be sanctioned for recruiting violations. You heard it hear first.
Spiderman,
You make a good point. What may change is the way they blatantly recruit at tournaments. They may actually try to be more discreet about it if they want to continue attracting talent that does not belong to them.
Instead of having a booth and "COLUMBUS WRESTLING" signs at a tournaments like seen at "calle ocho" or the youth fair exhibition hall, you may see the "EXPLORER RECRUITERS" quietly approaching the kids and parents at tournaments not trying to be seen. They will probably do it like you see those guys in downtown Miami trying to sell stolen jewelry and not getting caught by the cops in the process.
I could see it going something like this at tournaments. "Excuse me Mr. Smith, can we go outside of the gym where it is more quiet, I would like to talk to you about a good opportunity for your son, but I rather talk outside, too many people here. You know, too many eyes, too many ears".
So basically there approach may be a bit different. Instead of having an attractive booth with signs outside, they will have a quiet corner in the bleachers with look out guys.
Someone by the name of dadesupremo has posted this exact post word for word at the other site. PLAGARIST!
DA
Columbus does have a USA club...
Look at floridausawrestling.org and find Explorer Wrestling. It is a club I don't know if it is open to anyone.
I don't think the Explorer wrestling club will turn people away, especially if they are in middle school with talent, and can potentially go to Columbus in the future.
Seriously though, Coach Husk, even when he was at Southridge was very welcoming to kids from all over to train. He let kids train at the Ridge without any strings attached. I do give him credit for that over the years. Unlike many coaches around the county that are not very welcoming of other kids training at their school, Coach Husk has always given kids with no off season programs opportunities to train at his school.
the watcher
I say we have a experiment lets send one of our kids over to the Columbus practices to see if they can join. Then if they say no and turn them away I guess they are recruiting!
DA,
I saw the post, word for word off my Blog. I don't really care, but I don't know that the same could be said if it was the other way around.
BTW, what are those people idiots over there? They don't understand where the evidence of recruiting is?
WOW!!! Ignorance is bliss!
I guess if you don't know the rules you may go around with your head in the sand like there's no problem.
I'll say it one more time, and they can read it here or one of you leeches can copy and paste it over there.
Columbus does not have a feeder pattern per say, therefore, them accepting kids into their practice, providing transportation for them to and from tournaments, and paying their entry fee's, is prima fascia evidence or recruiting. Whether you want to look at it in that manner or not is irregardless of the reality, and that is that if those kids wind up at Columbus they will be ineligible, if they do not them no harm no foul.
I must say I have read the Spidermans interpretation of the rules and I have look at it myself with some of my colleagues and I have to agree with what he has said so far. If what he has stated is accurate, then the kids named as affiliated to Columbus would be ineligible if they went to school at Columbus. I even think GMAC rules would be even stricter than what is mentioned in the FHSAA manual, but I have not been able to find guidelines and regulations for the GMAC.
To add to the posted info from FHSAA, this is from FHSAA with FAWA/USA/AAU in particular:
Off-Season Participation Guidelines
The Board of Directors has established the following guidelines relative to contact by coaches in a given sport with student-athletes who participate in that sport at times during the school year outside that sport's season as defined in “Sport Seasons Guidelines” contained elsewhere in this handbook:
1. Definitions.
(a) Off-Season. "Off-season" means the period of time during the regular school year but outside the defined sport season for a specific sport.
(b) Sports Season. "Sports season" means the period of time for a specific school team in each respective sport that begins with the first permissible date of practice in that sport and ends either with (a) the last permissible date for a regular season contest (if not participating in state series competition) in that sport; (b) the date of the team's elimination from state series competition in that sport; or (c) the state championship game in that sport; whichever first occurs for that team. During a sports season a school may organize its teams in the sport for practice and interscholastic athletic competition within the regulations established to govern that specific sport.
(c) Coach. "Coach" means any person, regardless of whether they are employed or volunteer, who instructs, supervises, or otherwise manages student-athletes in conjunction with a practice, tryout, drill, workout, evaluation or competitive activity.
(d) “Involved In Any Respect.” "Involved in any respect" means engaged in anything to do with a non-school team, including but not limited to, coaching, scheduling, transporting, officiating and the hiring of officials, training, taping, managing team expenses, purchasing of uniforms and equipment, etc.
2. During the off-season, a coach may have contact with student athletes who are members of his/her team outside the normal teacher-student classroom environment to make arrangements for and assist in the conduct of physical examinations; explain eligibility regulations; solve insurance problems; review films; build morale; and conduct off-season conditioning as defined in the “Off-Season Conditioning Guidelines” contained elsewhere in this handbook.
3. During the off-season, a coach or prospective coach of any member school may be involved with a non-school team in a sport that he/she coaches provided the non-school team meets the following requirements:
(a) The team must be affiliated with an outside agency promoting athletic participation opportunities such as, but not limited to:
Baseball – Babe Ruth, American Legion, city/county leagues
Basketball – AAU, USA, USOC
Golf – USGA, AJGA
Soccer – FIFA, Youth leagues
Softball – ASA, USSSA
Swimming & Diving – USS, NISCA, ASCA, CSCAA, AAU
Tennis – FTA, USTA, USOC, ITF
Track & Field – USA, AAU
Volleyball – USVBA, USOC, USA, AVA
Wrestling – USA, AAU
(b) Participation must include a published schedule of competition.
(c) All fees or assessment for participation must be documented.
(d) Participation shall be voluntary and shall not be required, either directly or indirectly, for membership on an interscholastic team.
4. Participation by a student in non-school athletics (i.e. AAU, American Legion, club settings, etc.) on a team that is affiliated with any school other than the school which the student attends, or attended the prior year, followed by enrollment by that student in the affiliated school, shall be considered prima facie evidence of recruiting by the school to which that student enrolled, or that the student enrolled in that school in whole or in part for athletic reasons. Unless this prima facie evidence of recruiting or that the student enrolled in the new school in whole or in part for athletic reasons is disproved by the school and student to the satisfaction of the Commissioner, the student shall be ineligible to represent that school in interscholastic athletic competition for a period of 365 consecutive days from the date of his/her enrollment in that school. A team affiliated with a school is one that is organized by and/or coached by any member of the coaching staff at, or any other person affiliated with, that school; and/or on which the majority of the members of the team (participants in practice and/or competition) are students who attend that school (Bylaw 11.4.10).
5. Member schools may make their gymnasiums and other athletic facilities available to outside groups or organizations such as USA Wrestling, AAU Basketball, American Legion Baseball and others as approved by the school district or governing body for a private school for the conduct of recreational activities programs without being in violation of FHSAA Bylaws under the following guidelines:
(a) The school may not assume responsibility for, nor provide facilities for, these activities except under the condition that if the school’s facilities are used, such facilities must be contracted to the group or organization that is responsible for the program.
(b) The school may not assume liability or insurance responsibility for non-school recreational activities.
6. The school administration shall assume the responsibility for ensuring compliance with these guidelines.
7. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the assessment of penalties including, but not limited to, the following:
(a) Assessment of a minimum fine of $2,500 per violation.
(b) Loss of permissible practice time.
(c) Loss of privilege to participate in a preseason jamboree or preseason classic with reimbursement of a minimum of $500 to each affected school and the FHSAA.
(d) Reduced number of regular season “home” contests.
(e) Loss of privileges to participate in the FHSAA State Series.

DA
From GMAC:
1. Recruitment of Athletes
At no time should coaches, members of the teaching profession, or anyone affiliated with a school engage in, either direct or indirect, recruitment of athletes to attend a particular high school. When any non-school student or parent contacts a coach about attending that school, the coach must immediately refer the student and/or parent to the principal.
To implement this rule and eliminate possible misunderstanding, the following shall be observed:
a. When there is a reported incident of alleged recruiting of athletes, the persons in receipt of the allegation shall report this information to his/her athletic director immediately. The athletic director, in turn, will gather available data and present the same to the principal.
In light of the restrictions imposed by the Family Rights and Privacy Act, any information regarding the recruiting of an athlete will not be shared with personnel outside the school site.
b. The principal receiving the recruiting allegations will follow the procedures listed below:
1) Inform the Administrative Director of Athletics/Activities and Accreditation and the Executive Secretary, GMAC, of the charges.
2) Schedule a meeting with the principal and athletic director of the school against whom the charge has been filed. At this meeting, every attempt will be made to resolve the problem.
3) Inform the Administrative Director of Athletics/Activities and Accreditation and the Executive Secretary, GMAC, of the results of the meeting between the principals and athletic directors in writing, signed by both principals, within ten working days.
c. If the problem is not resolved, the Administrative Director of Athletics/Activities and Accreditation or Executive Secretary, GMAC, shall conduct a meeting with involved principals and athletic directors in a further effort to resolve the problem, within ten working days.
d. If the Administrative Director of Athletics/Activities and Accreditation or Executive Secretary, GMAC, is unable to resolve the problem, the principal reporting the charges shall file a formal complaint with the Florida High School Activities Association and the Greater Miami Athletic Conference.
hey just wondering who did wilson live with while he was at southdade? his parents? i think not
i was living with your mom. she makes good scrambled eggs.

Anonymous,
People in glass houses should not be seen throwing stones. And that there is how you should know I am not KW.
Suuuure you're not Spiderman!
Mr. C
The kids are in middle school. Go tell the principal he will laugh at you.
Mr.C
Nothing is going to happen. The so-called "tougher rules in Miami" is garbage! Columbus will get theirs just like I got mine. I'll piss on Golden's head.
Ron Osorio
Wow!!
Mr. C
Lol.. Just curious about exactly who Osorio recruited.
Garcia was just a coincedence. And Harris's horrible wrestling before he met Osorio wasn't worth all the trouble of recruiting.
Anyway, it seems Columbus won't be keeping those kids.
You guys need to stop with all this bullshit. If you have something to tell me then come and see me personally. I have no problem listening to what you have to say. Just don't come on here like a coward and accuse my program of recruiting.
Sincerely,
Jim Husk
Coach Husk?
I'm not sure that you are or are not coach Husk, but I will write to you as if you are.
I have been a great fan of yours throughout the years, supporting your program and enjoying your wrestlers at South Ridge, and even now at Columbus.
However, my personal feelings aside, if I see an injustice I will speak of it regardless of my personal feelings on the issue.
For too long you have operated with impunity and no one has ever said anything to you, either from respect, admiration, or fear, but no one has challenged you on much. I think that is one of the beautiful things about the internet, it gives everyone a voice, and people can say what they want and their words either live or die on their merits.
If the allegations levied against your program are baseless, then all this talk will be for not, but if they are true, this might be the first time in your career that you are bested in these matters.
I am very proud of my site and the voice it gives to those with something to say. This is not going to go away because you come on here and tell someone to tell you to your face. Intimidation plays little or no part in cyberspace; I say that because it is the logic behind your statement.
In a perfect world some of these coaches and parents complaining about Columbus recruiting would come to you and say, “Coach please don’t recruit my kids; I want to have a good program as well.” But then again, in a perfect world you would not be trying to steal someone else’s talent for your own success without regard for theirs.
Spiderman, it is me. I'm kind of new to this internet thing I must say. This is the second and last time I write on here. If anyone has a problem then speak to me or turn me in, do what ever you want, but don't be coward and hide.
Sincerely,
Jim Husk
well said spiderman, i can't believe husk has the fingers to write this nonsense. you are right he has had a great career, but to what extent. he has had no regards for others. i think he should sit there and take it like a man the way others have taken his BS for so many years. maybe after all this is said and done we can all go with husk and have a hotdog and a coke at arbetters.
forgot to sign my name on top. the arbetter thing.
In a perfect world such actions taken by those in violation of their positions would not be required. This being our world only vociferous loquacious shouts of rage and injustice can make a mark on those minds who dare not see thru the blatant camouflage perpetrated by those venal vermin. Mr. Husk, your naked villainy may be perpetrated by those in your charge and even without your consent but the distorted reflection that it cast will always be in your image.
I know why you did it. Why you sought to cleave your way back to that peak you were so use to. For many years you ruled with an iron fist demanding obedience and establishing a controlled consent of the populous. Now you’ve reverted back to your days of old when young charges dreamt of following your lead. The insulting discharge from the Spartan complex still wanes on your mind and the vengeance of a true reckoning is recklessly sought before your final stage and curtain falls. Today a lifetime of conspicuous deeds covered by the passage of time now seem exhumed by your current path. A past covered and layered in cloak and dagger deals and agreements now verge on the precipice of discovery. Step carefully Mr. Husk, your conscription of young athletes are not unnoticed by those in power.

V.
Coach Husk,
I'll take you word that it's actually you.
I understand where you are coming from, wanting people to tell you things to your face, but I also understand that those feelings stem from the inability to be proactive in curbing the behavior.
I am glad you visited my site, and I hope it's not you last time. If you feel so strongly here you have the perfect forum to defend yourself and tell us how it really is if it is not as it is being reported.
I hope you understand that where you and I come from these things got taken care of face to face, but times have changed and we must adapt. In the end the Pen is mightier than the sword, and rightfully so.
Comes down to this….Coach Husk is a great person and coach. He hasn’t done anything negative for wrestling. He is generous to all. Instead of bad mouthing him and his program be happy for these kids that have a chance to excel.
Mr. C
Columbus is not recruiting other highschools mainly middleschool kids.
Mr.C
Husk is a great person, but he is also doing great things for his team, and not so much for other teams. Could you at least understand why someone trying to put a team together would not be happy if Columbus was trying to steal their kids?
Anonymous,
So what about Noffo, and possibly Montero?
Man you guys are ignorant.
Noffo was not recruited.
recruiting sucks but leave columbus alone you guys look at it from everyones point of view minus the kids this is a solo sport if a kid doesnt like his school for whatever reason than he should have the right to choose to stay or not if a kid is close to his coach than nothing can change his mind to leave to another program and i mean nothing but if a kid for whatever reason feels he would be better off somewhere else than let him go you coaches an parents and wrestlers take this issue to the extreme when in the end everyone is guilty of recruiting in some way shape or form and also about the middle school recruiting thats stupid too the kids dont belong to anyone they will choose where they want to go look at it this way if you are a middle school wrestler an want to do good in high school what will you do if you could pick go to hialeah high , north west or if you could a school like south dade or columbus the kids want the best so they will go there and if your guy wants to wrestle for another school let him you dont own these kids so why punish anyone other than yourself for not giving your wrestler what he needed at your school and in turned it forced him to look for another school where he can get what he wants
im just saying this is my point of view
Michael Nates
Nates?
A kid shopping around for a better situation is a lot different from a school setting up a systematic and organized effort to induce, intice, and indulge kids into finding favor in them over theoir home school.
If you want recruiting to be legit then open it up and let everyone do it; otherwise e nforce the rules the way they are intended, and punish the guilty accordingly.
Why Anonymous, what a clever, ingenious and original comment. Due to your choice of words and focus of sexual preference, are you an Explorer grad, or perhaps a misguided Explorer parent? Either way, you have shown what a great education you have received! Congratulations on the supportive points of your eloquent argument! I am certain you have converted non-believers to side with your views and rendered the opposition speechless.

I see Columbus being #3 in Miami-Dade the whole season even with their alleged recruiting.
I don't think they'll be able to come close to American or South Dade.
Ironman:
Answer to your question about Osoiro: Whether the kid follows the coach or visa versa, it's called recruiting according to the FHSAA policies. As for Columbus the only people who DONT think they are recruiting are the Columbus parents, coaches and Cheryl Gordon who is afraid of The Godfather. Doesnt matter if the kids recruit Noffo or a parent or a coach, its still recruiting. Do you really believe some coaches dont tell their kids to work on certain kids? How do you think the Ocheeto guys did it?
Anonymous,
When did I say that I didn't believe Columbus was recruiting. In fact, only an illiterate would ignore the evidence posted on this blog proving Columbus's dirty dealings.
So what you are saying is that the only person Osorio is guilty of recruiting is Garcia, right? I guess I can't blame Osorio for that considering the fact that he loves using Garcia's head as a punching bag for his jabs. After all, he is a pretty mad guy. I don't think he'd go as far as to piss on his wrestlers.. He saves that for everyone else he doesn't like.
maybe we should get kw on here to tell us what grade these kids are in.
I've been in this sport for 25 years my dad became the head coach at South Dade in 1983 and i personaly saw him start that program from having 8 kids to winning his first of 3 titles in 1995 before he pasted away.He wrestled under Coach Husk at South West high school and i know personaly that there is alot of kids that look at my dad like a father and he changed many lives.Without Coach Husk my dad wouldve probaly never coached.i know for a fact that Coach Husk has changed many lives for the better and he has personaly changed my life for the better. He gave me my first opprotunity as a coach and has been like a father to me and whoever has a bad word to say about Coach Husk doesent really know him cause he will give you the shirt off his back.
Coach Shawn McCoy
In defense of Coach Husk,i have had a number coaches in dade-county want one of my kids for numerous sports.i am honored that they would want one of my sons. i think that most of the coaches in dade-county not only for wrestling are doing a great job.i think that many coaches are gulity of tring to better their programs.again i am honored.alot of the dade county coaches have been so good to my sons.all of u coaches should be comended for what you coaches have done with the sports programs of dade-county.i think that all of you coaches are champions and good homed people.i just wanna say thank you for what all of you coaches have done for my three sons.we should stop the bad mouthing of coaches because all of you mean well and i wanna say again thank you dade-county coaches for what you have done for my three sons.if i could help in any way please let me know.
For the accusations that Columbus has been accused of wheter true or false many teams across the state have also violated those accusations and if looked at real closley many teams are in violations. You are opening pandoras box and why are people studying columbus so closely when many other team are in violation also.
nice examples of other programs in violation, anonymous!
that is one way to get the attention off of you, push them to another one.
anonymous 999,999,999.9
Shawn,
No one has questioned Coach Husk's dedication, commitment, or his impact on the many lives he has touched, including yours and your dad's obviously.
However, all the good he has done does not give him the right to steal or even attempt to steal kids that belong to other schools that are themselves trying to build legitimate programs.
To be very honest with you, I have no qualms about kids going where they want to go; I believe parents have the right to send their kids where they want them to go. However, Columbus goes beyond that by trashing the Public school system as inadequate which it is not, they make promises of tuition waivers and scholarships as incentives which they know is a blatant violation, and probably worst of all, they have personal contact with these kids and bring them into the nest and along to tournaments and such.
If a parent thinks Columbus or South Dade or Braddock or American is the best place for his son then so be it, I think choice is a great thing, what I disapprove of are the methods used to entice families into those decisions.
Mr. Gulesian,
I don't think anyone has trashed or bad mouthed coach Husk, unless of course you consider the truth bad mouthing. No one can question his impact on wrestling, and the great work he has done throughout the years, but he has also stepped on many toes that I think now have a forum to step back.
I am sure the coaches in Dade County that have aided your sons appreciate your comments.
Your family and the Rio family are two good examples of people that I have no problems with going to Columbus; you are friends with Coach Husk and as such Loyal to him. You likely sought him out for your kids as readily as he welcomed you, and if that were Columbus's modus operandi, I don’t think this topic would ever have been started, but we both know that recent events show that is not the case.
In any case, Good luck to you and your boys, I will continue to enjoy watching them wrestle in the coming years
Anonymous,
OUCH!
I hope you are not a student at Columbus, for if you are, your inability to construct a coherent statement belies Columbus's superiority complex as it pertains to education. I am still trying to figure out what it is you were trying to say except for the accuracy of your reference to Pandora ’s Box.
99,
I think he was trying to use the old "everyone else is guilty too" defense which we all know is no defense at all.
It's kind of like getting pulled over on the turnpike for going 80 MPH and telling the police officer "but everyone else was doing 80 as well." At which point the officer turns holding his chin and says you know what you are correct, puts away his pad and bids you a fine day right?
Eerrrrrr!!!
Wrong!
