JR. High Wrestlingis Underway

Junior High Wrestling is underway in Dade County. I am waiting for the results, and I will post them as soon as they come in. I heard from a source who was there that there were some very impressive Junior High wrestlers, and that the future of Dade County Wrestling is secure. Stay tuned.

Damn!

Impressive by Mas Canosa, whom do they feed?

Impressive showing by Glades, looks like the Columbus feeder is alive and well.

What the hell happened to Kinlock?

I will await KW's report before I post the results.

Who is the coach at JorgeMasCanosa?

Mas Canosa Feeds Felix Varela, I do not know who the coach is, but good for Varela.

The powers will shift somewhat I believe, teams like Cutler Ridge and Highland Oaks will improve significantly with time.

I believe the Jorge Mas Canosa coach use to be at Paul Bell.

Jorge Mas Canoso's coach is Steve Morejon. A very knowledgable, hard working and conscientious individual who is a great role model for the young men at this new school. This will not be a "flash in the pan" program, they will continue to improve daily.

Spidey,

I don't have any results with me right now. When I go home I will copy the placing matches and put them up here.

The wrestling was pretty impressive, although I am still partial to the Saturday when the idea for the Real McCoy was born. Campbell Drive, Homestead, Redland, Highland Oaks, Howard Doolin and Kinloch Park got together for some North vs South Action. In attendance that day. Tico Baez, James Williams, Quint McPhearson, Kendrick Sanders, Luis Montalvo, Stephon Moore, Briant Otero, Eric Chandler, Gabe Chandler, Mario Montoto, Carlos Montero, Alex Jerez, Albert Jerez, and Michael Wilson. That is 7 state titles, 14 GMAC Titles, 2 Dade County wrestler of the year awards, and various other awards.

Erol Jackson Cutler Ridge looked really impressive. Shiquan Hall Ammons won the weight class with most returning County placers. Sonny Gulesian Glades looked good as did both the 170 and hwt from Richmond. You could tell the teams who have been practicing for monthes and the schools that just got going. Jack Rio Ammons beat a returning county placer in the quarters and then beat an impressive Beckforf from Palmetto.

Shouldn't the attention be in Palmetto keeping it's 1st place from last year, along with Richmond Heights maintaining 2nd? So much of what happens in these tournaments goes to bracketing that I am sure the new school got some breaks. I bet it will be different in duals where they must win head to head and the district tournament where the wrestlers are seeded.

Anonymous,

Don't discount the Mas Canosa team. Morejon had some great teams at Paul Bell, and it's no secret he can both coach and build a good team. they will also get better. I was not aware the he had returned to the middle school ranks, but I should have noticed when I did not see him around Miami High this year. Good luck to him and to his new team the Paladins, know that the Spiderman is following your progress.

Thanks Spiderman and Anonymous for the kind words.

The season is young, and my team is even younger and I believe one of the other anonymouses was correct - luck played to our advantage in the bracketing at the dade youth fair. There were many teams in my opinion that are ahead of us, including Ammons, Redland, Glades, and Cutler Ridge. My hope is that we continue to work hard and see if we can finish strong.

It does not matter where you start, it's where you finish that matters!

Best of luck to everyone.

Coach Morejon
