G.M.A.C. REVIEW

As it is every year, what an amazing tournament.

Here are some impressions.

I was not there Friday but I’m told by a good source that Nates put quite a schoolin on Gulesian. Damn out of nowhere and BAM! I did say there would be a surprise entry at 130 but I did not put 2 and 2 together until everyone else knew, my source would not tell me a name and I was brain farting, I should have figured it out.

I guess Columbus is not the Powerful team their supporters would have you believe they are.

Earl Hall… OMG!!! What a warrior. I bet he does not weigh over 100 pounds, but I would be that 80 of those pounds are heart. I’m sorry I missed his match against Harris, I’m told it is the closest he came to losing. The Noffo match should not have been as close as it was, the ref allowed him to play rabbit, and should have stalled him out and the quick set of backs would never have come into play. Villanueva might be cutting way too much weight to go 6 min with Hall, but if he can increase his stamina he should have the upper hand, he did look quite dominant in the early part of the match.

E. Chandler… Any doubt left that he will be the first 4 timer from Dade? Wilson took it to him, and I found myself rooting for him internally, but Wilson’s grit and desire are just not enough to overcome Chandler’s superior ability.

G. Chandler… Proved me wrong. Looking almost as good as his brother, and could repeat at Lakeland. I expected more from Williams, but maybe it’s not the Williams fell short but rather that Chandler stepped up. Nodar and Lubin are not even close, and if they are not carefull one or both could lose a trip to Lakeland

Williams… What else can you say about the Rat? What an impressive athlete, anyone who thought Morales would give him a match is out of their mind. Rio has improved considerably, but anytime the rat is in his way 2nd is the best he can do.

Nates… OUCH! This stud came out of nowhere, and looks like he hasn’t missed a beat; in fact he looks more relaxed and confident. I did notice one thing and I’m not sure how I feel about it but there was a close call against Metellus that caused Osorio (me) to spring into action, questioning the officials that were in their chairs watching the match. It turns out he was intently watching the proceeding and gesturing as if Nates was still in his stable even though he no longer runs a stable. Anyway, Metellus found out quickly the G.M.A.C. is quite a different animal than he is used to at 1A, not to say that he can’t compete here, he certainly can, and were is not for Nates he would have won but I think he has to go back to the drawing board and come back with a new plan, luckily for him he has the perfect coach for that task.

Baez… Anything I say here would be redundant, they kid dominates like no other, everyone else is fighting for 2nd place.

Montero… I keep seeing flashes of greatness from him, but it’s illusive to capture, he seems to have more in the tank but either holds back or is not aware that he has more. It will be interesting to see where he weighs in at Districts since he is now up a weight class.

Sanders… Every time someone refers to him the next word out is Freak. I agree, his unorthodoxy, flexibility, and unparalleled poise make him the most interesting wrestler to watch. He is better with his counters than almost anyone I’ve ever seen, and when you think he is in danger, it’s almost like to him that was his setup. Watson was lucky to finish 2nd, if him and Sanders are paired together in the region semis, he will have a serious battle just to qualify.

Montalvo… Another one that proved me wrong. I guess I have to be a believer now. No offense to Montalvo, but 152 locally is kind of weak, that is no reflection on him however, he took care of business. Look for others to migrate to 152, fleeing Sanders and Passmore would not be the worst thing they could do.

Passmore… Typical Southridge athlete, well schooled by Johnson, but another weak class locally. What’s with Encarnacion? It seems like after last years G.M.A.C. it’s been a downhill run. He looks like he’s cutting a lot to make 160 which I don’t get since I think his athletic lankiness would serve him better at 171 where he would be stronger.

Perez… Brutally strong, and finally in shape make Tommy dangerous here, though 171 is kind of weak as well. I was a little surprised to see Castro beat Lilly twice, but I think Lilly was not 100%. I expected more from Davis, but he looks a little spent.

Plain… OH! My. No competition, though the Varela kid made it interesting early. Plain is pure athlete, lightning fast and Ox Strong, but I did see chink in his armor that is all about wrestling and nothing else. The South Miami kid used an interesting tactic, keep plain close and tied up, cut off his room to maneuver and his wrestling is a bit exposed. Varela started to do the same thing and had early success even scoring some points, but when he abandoned the tactic Plain opened up that can on him and made him look silly. Abadine has not shot against Plain, and I believe even Varela will beat him again. He was better off at 215, though the team might suffer.

Wiggins… Master at this class, no other is as seasoned as him, I expected more from Columbus who looked Physically impressive. Miami High had an interesting participant, and he should not be taken lightly. The South Miami kid had flashes but looks lost more often than not. The American kid proved he is disciplined enough to beat the bigger opponents until he got to Wiggins, he will need to repeat his performance and hope that the other do not progress any further.

Chinchilla… Frankly I expected a more dominant performance from him, but he is still G.M.A.C. champ. The American kid managed to make things interesting, as Spideysorio proves once again he can coach the big guys. The Specimen from Hialeah can upset anyones plans, but he will have to find more wind and make less mistakes. If he can finish a match he can have his say.

What does the Spider think about Dewberry in the corner of Hall's matches. Some have been voicing their opinions on the other site. Should the rules apply to everyone? If it doesn't make a difference then why be in the corner?

Spiderman said...

To be honest I was a little uncomfortable with it myself. Dewberry is a fine official and an upstanding person, and I do not believe that his duties as referee were affected by him sitting in Halls corner. However, it did look and feel wrong because of he was there in an official capacity. I did hear more than one person commenting on it, and none of it was favorable. I know for a fact that the Coral Reef contingent was not pleased, specifically the parents. I also overheard some coaches talking about it, and again it was not positive. I think Dewberry might have to decide between the stripes or the corner, and I think the G.M.A.C. may in fact receive an official complaint over the incident. It is a tough situation.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

One more thing, I don't typically read the other site much but my curiosity was peaked by your comments so I went over to read but could not find the comments you are referencing in regards to Dewberry in the corner. Would you please direct me to the comments so I don't have to do too much investigating, I am a little pressed for time.

Anonymous said...

hey spydesorio your team looked impressive. how does it feel to bring the whole crewe.

Anonymous said...

I don't think dewberry can choose from stripes or corner unless he is a coach at the school. Is he? They are pretty strict about not having legit coaches in the corner, how did this one get by?

Anonymous said...

Dewberry did not officiate one 103 lb. match. Is the conflict that one of the officials would give Hall a break because Dewberry is in his corner ? If anything I think that during Hall's match vs. Coral Reef, it appeared that the official was more lenient than normal in calling stalling against Hall's opponent? Is it one's inability to be fair in this type of situation that makes us think that something is wrong ? Is it the syndrome that if was me out there, I couldn't be fair? Pardo, Galarce, Ford, Varona, and Balmeceda are all coaches and officials are they given preferential treatment during their matches ? Are do we only complain about it when one of their athletes wins a close, heated match ?

Anonymous said...

I think that all the coaches listed above are coaches for their respective schools. Also when they are in a tournament you do not see them officiating. I don't think there would be any cheating or leniancy at any level or from anyone. I think this is more about Dewberry not being a coach for Homestead. If other schools are not allowed to have individuals in the corner that are not coaches then Homestead should not either. You know him being in the corner gives hall an emotional boost. If Dewberry was not in the corner will Hall wrestle the same. Maybe, maybe not. No one will know unless that happens.

Anonymous said...

I think Homestead only has 3 coaches. Harris, Dodd and Torres. This is a tough situatuion because Hall is having a fantastic year, but good point on if Dewberry was not there would Hall wrestle the same.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

Thanks my team did look great, and I brought almost the whole crew. We will piss on all of you soon enough. I must say I am a great coach and am super impressed with myself and my coaching ability. How many other coaches do I know that could go to a school who has never had more than 1 or 2 wrestlers in the G.M.A.C. Finals to having 6? I don't know any, except myself of course. I' awesome.

Anonymous,

One of my sources explained this to me so I will relay it to you. The official coach in the corner rule is because of the Jessica Lunsford act. It is the G.M.A.C.'s way of insuring that every coach out there has been screened and is authorized to represent the school and the G.M.A.C. In Dewberry's case he meets the criteria of the G.M.A.C. screening because he has followed the screening procedure to be an official. Therefore, he is not breaking any G.M.A.C. rules by sitting in the corner of a homestead match. So if that is your concern, drop it, I think the concern is more about, conflict of interest and the appearance of impropriety than it is anything else.

Anonymous said...

If the problem is whether the father is in his son's corner giving him a boost, notthe integrity of the situation, then you, sir, are a whiner who is hurt that a 95lb. kid beat an opponent who may weigh anywhere from 110 to 115 after weigh-ins.

Spiderman said...

Other anonymous,

I don't think coach/officials get any preferential treatment because they wear both hats. However, a guy like Pardo or Balmeceda would get more consideration when disputing a call simply because they themselves are two of the better officials in Dade County. They both know the rules as good or better than any official out there, and I have frequently seen officials confering with privately away from the matches in regards to a situation that might have occured. If you are respected you are respected whether you wear the stripes or not, officials also pay closer head to Husk and to Soderholm and they are not official, but they know that these guy know their shit so they listen.

Spiderman said...

Other other aonymous,

I explained this situation above, but I will give you an example. If Ponce called Osorio to his corner to come helkp coach Nates, it might look wrong to the crowd, it might bend some ethical boundaries, but it would not breakany G.M.A.C. directive because Osorio has been screened by the G.M.A.C. Similarly no rules were broken by Dewberry or Homestead in regards to coaching in the corner.

Spiderman said...

Other other other anonymous,

Hall is a man in regards to wrestling, if Dewberry went up in the stands and screemed from there, Hall would listen and the results would be the same. If Dewberry were not present at all in the building, I think Hall has matured enough to handle it and the results would be the same.

Anonymous said...

Let me ask a question. Will Dewberry be allowed to coach at the State Tournamnet? Will the FHSAA put in Homestead's package a tag with his name on it to be on the floor? Why do you think they won't?

Anonymous said...

Coach Harris can provide him with a Coach's pass if he so desires, so be prepared to continue your whining if the little 95 lber. is lucky enough to qualify for the State meet.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree with you spidey. He is not breaking any rules, but ethically it does walk a thin line.

Anonymous said...

that's dumb. that's like saying; you can't buy a gun legally because you have a prior record, but i'll get you one off the streets. nice thing to teach our youth. it's not cheating if you don't get caught.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

I guarantee you if Dewberry is not selected to officiate at the State tournament, that he will in fact reside in Hall's corner for the matches.

I have however been told by a source that i trust that it has been decided that Dewberry will no longer be in Hall's corner on days when he also has officiating duties.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

That makes no sense, perhaps you would like to elaborate before we conclude that you are the dumbest anonymous to ever post on this site. Of course, elaboration my just prove that you are the dumbest anonymous yet so please be careful. I don't see how your analogy has any bearing on the situation, again, no rules were broken, the situation is more that of ethics than of legislation.

Anonymous said...

There is no thin line, either you feel it is right or wrong for whatever your reasons on the matter may be. A man who has not only coached his son, but many of the young men who wrestled this weekend, including one of his son's opponents.A man who has given so much to the South Dade (area not the High school)wrestling community is bashed on these two boards because his son has accomplished what many felt he could not. This man and his family do not deserve to be treated like this. I know that many have of you have higher morals and values than I could ever hope to posses, and are sincerely questioning Dewberry for sitting in his son's corner. My post is aimed at spineless, jealous, spiteful individuals who cannot honor this young man's accomplishments. I also respect those who feel that we will get him next time and are working diligently to do so.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

I don't think anyone doubts Dewberry's commitment and influence to youth wrestling in the area. However, while I don't think any rules wee broken nor do I think he flexed any influence over the officials, it nonetheless does not look appropriate for someone who is there is the official capacity of Referee to sit in the corner of one of the competitors. I think this is an instance of having your cake or eating it? I thin kin these instances Dewberry must choose to be a coach and forgo officiating, or alternately he must continue to officiate and internalize his emotions for Hall while he is wearing the stripes. I understand and feel that Mr. Dewberry is a person of the utmost integrity and yet I understand the perception at large because I feel some of it myself. Even if Dewberry exhibited the Wisdom and fairness of Solomon himself, the perception would remain, and that must be addressed.

Anonymous said...

In all likelihood we are going to be without a quality official in a tournament where we are doing our best as coaches and officials to get our best 56 wrestlers to the State tournament. I really hope for the sake of the sport that these comments do not run away one of our best officials. I am sure that he does want to deal with this BS for the next 7 years.

Spidey,

Look on page 2 Baez makes history thread. After the first couple of posts, it dives into the Dewberry in Hall's corner topic.

103
Hall wrestled well, Villanueva still hasn't had enough big match experience yet. Harris and Noffo were the next best 2. Betancourt and Gulesian were just behind them, throw in Olivera and once again Region 4 will leave behind someone who could place at States.
112
Saturday was the closest any Dade County wrestler has come to defeating Eric Chandler, even then Eric was pulling away at the end. If Guzman can not come back that leaves the door open for Quint and Barrera to go to state depending on the bracket.
119
Gabe has fully recovered from any missteps in December. He has defeated Lubin twice, Nodar and now Josh. He should finish on top of the podium again. District and the brackets should decide who is number 2 Josh or Lubin. Nodar should get out as the 4 seed.
125
Rat is still on top of the pack. Jake has a decision over Joey, but 2 and 3 should depend on brackets. If the same as GMAC then Joey makes the finals again, if not I expect a Jake and Rat final. Even though he finished 3rd this might have been the best I've seen Jake wrestle this late in the year before.
130
Nates coming back shakes things up. Mettelus and Gulesian should also make the trip to Lakeland. Not sure it Gulesian has enough to beat Nates, but I would expect a different match between Nates and Mettelus in 3 weeks. Oxsunn Ramirez should be the next best wrestler, but the brackets will decide if he gets out. Chris Perez Am and Fitz Rodriguez Brad could sneak into that 4th place spot, that Ruiz HML occupied this weekend.
135
Tico is the top. Gonzalez Mia, Santibanez AM, Figueroa Gol should be challenged by U Ramirez SW to take the trip to Lakeland with Tico.
140
If Montero CG stays here, this is the weight class that could see the most changes at Regions. Parrado Gol, Villalobos Brad, Fontaine SD and Perez Sun all had some close matches at the GMAC. Montero is the Champ right now, but he hasn't had many matches this year to keep him sharp. Antwain Eddie Hom, could suprise some and follow Hall to Lakeland.
145
Sanders is clearly the favorite. If Pena doesn't come back, then Watson is second and Bell 3rd. The top 4 at GMAC were the 4 seeded wrestlers from District 16.
152
Montalvo beat the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers on the way to his first GMAC Title. That should translate to a Region title for Luis with Clarke, Starr, and Alvarez trying to get to Lakeland as well. Brackets could affect one of their chances.
160
Passmore and Garcia should stay as 1 and 2 (altough they could meet in the semis). Moore and Encarnacion should be also taking the trips, but Holozier NMB might be able to challenge for that final spot with some more work from Severe.
171
Perez is the #1 until someone beats him. King, Castro and Lilly should take the remaining spots. I think Davis has been passed, by Castro and King and would give the edge to Lilly in a possible match up.
189
Plain is #1 until someone beats him. Don't know if Barthole can repeat his GMAC performace at Regions. Webster and Abadin should have trips to Lakeland, but Abadin did not look very impressive at the lower weight.
215
Lots of choices. Wiggins and Castillo should meet in the finals again. Williams Mia, Clavijo Hia, Rabaza Col, Davis SM and Chunga SR should challenge for the final 2 spots.
285
Chinchilla has not looked all that impressive, but he continues to win. Chirino Am, McCray SR and Liuget Hia should all make the trip to states. Chandler NW, Arauz Hom and Weathy Col could upset and earn a trip to Lakeland, but McCray and Liuget deserve the credit for now.

Anonymous/Spiderman,

I am also a little leery about Dewberry in the corner but not because of any undue influence. I believe that he is one of the best officials in the state and since his friendship with Johnson is very evident it feels and seems as if the official that does his son’s match is being critiqued the whole time. That may force the official to not call stalling on Hall’s opponent so as to not seem biased or it might make the working official extremely uncomfortable and force him to make or not make some close calls. All that being said, I would rather have Dewberry in his son’s corner if that means that we can have him officiating regionals. Yes, most of the officiating was pretty good this weekend but from the stands I saw officials conferring with each other after some very questionable calls or no calls. I know some officials made some very bad, match changing calls and to say that Dewberry must sit out of regionals just to sit in his son’s corner I say: FU$! That sh!t. Let him sit there an yell and coach, IT IS HIS SON. People should be complaining about Osorio interfering with the Nates match and not about Dewberry. We better hope that he does officiate regionals for the sake of our kids and the sport.

Spiderman said...

Crackho,

So you know that the Dewberry family is moving to Broward sometime in the near future? Because I really don't see them commuting to and from STA every day just so Hall may wrestle there. Besides, why would they? Hall is doing just fine at Homestead, though I'm sure STA would love nothing better than to have him, as would any other program.

G.M.A.C. Review,

South Dade - Very dominant. They took 13 to the tournament and they placed all 13. Impressive to see the team that beat Brandon in person. Those kids look extremely strong and in shape. Even their weak links are stronger than the other teams strongest links.

Southridge – Johnson has his team working hard and they went out there and battled. Morales looks different, older, wiser. He still can’t beat and probably will never beat the Rat but he will be there taking second again. Passmore, Lilly, and Plain make up their strength and what a threesome that is. Look for them to place in the top three again.

American – Was anyone really surprised at this? About the only surprise was the 6 in the finals but Osorio is a very good coach and he just took over kids who already had experience and just motivated them. Look for them to place in the top three again.

Braddock – Does Tejada know how to coach or what. He comes from nowhere and makes his kids wrestle hard and always place. No matter what anyone thinks of him he is one of the best coaches in the state. He has great kids and a great program.

Columbus – What the hell happened to them. From all reports they were just missing 1 kid and they still placed a distant 5th. It seems to me that they were overexposed and now are having a hard time living up to expectations. I don’t see them in the top 3 but never count out the Husk.

Homestead - Yet another great showing by a surprise team. Yes this team is loaded with talent but many felt that they were not being used correctly. Now they come and show what they can really do when they are motivated and angry about the disrespect given to them. HALL IS THE MAN. By far more impressive than Chandler or Baez in their 9th grade. This kid beat bigger stronger compeditors who were supposed to be able to handle him.

Overall a great tournament with lots of great matches. I see the same results for the region tournament as for the G.M.A.C.

Anonymous said...

Columbus is the best! We will rock our districts and then we will destroy everyone in regionals. #uck all of you haters. Watch out cause here we come losers. In the name of the father the son and the holy spirit.

CoachKW said...

Right now, the only thing Hall has that Chandler didn't have is an undefeated record. Chandler defeated Tommy Bennett at States who was bigger and stronger (and is his only loss in high school). He also majorred or teched everyone he wrestled in Dade. Yes he was mainly wrestling other freshman, but they had been wrestling for quite a while Jake Rio and Miguel Rios.

Tico won GMACs and Regions (defeated the older Frank Celorio to win Regions). Tico had a few more losses, but that is also due to the schedule that South Dade travelled. He was the first freshman of this generation to come in and pretty much dominate like he did.

Now I don't know who was supposed to "handle" Earl this past weekend. I don't think there was a better "wrestler" in the weight class. But I did think there were a couple of wrestlers that were capable of beating him. I thought Villanueave would beat him and he did for 2 periods until he just froze in the final period and gave up 8 points. I did think that Noffo had the skills and size to beat him, but I was in no way suprised to see Hall beat Noffo.

Even though I was at South Dade at the time, I think that Eric Chandler had the most impressive run as a freshman in recent time. (Shawn McCoy might have been the most impressive freshman, due to what he did at the weight class he was at 220.) He didn't get quick pins like Tico did, but all of a sudden he was majorring and teching people by turning them with ease. Miguel Rios was doing very well through out the year, but he didn't have an answer for Eric. Same thing with Jake Rio, he had several matches with Eric, but I don't remember any of them being close. I don't remember him having to go to OT or being down 6 - 2 at any point in GMACs his freshman year.

I'm not trying to knock Earl, I'm just refreshing your memory for you.

Earl's season is definatly impressive, but it is not over yet. This might be a great discussion to open up after the season depending on how Earl finishes the season.

Not so fast however, there will be a little shufflingbetween now and regionals, there usually is. I don't see the exact same results, though it will be similar. Do you remember last years G.M.A.C. champion who stayed home after the region tournament? Like I said, not so fast.

CoachKW said...

Spidey,

Which GMAC champion do you mean? Last year 3 GMAC champions did not even qualify for States, let alone win the Region title.

The one that wrestled in Regionals, but did not qualify for States?
The one that wrestled in Districts, but quit the next week because of a college football scholarship?
or the one that wasn't allowed to wrestle in the District tournament, because he was "caught" up with something else?

Spiderman said...

Coach Harris @ Homestead is perfectly capable of coaching anyone to success...if I must say so myself. Forget the anonymous sh#t. Aaron E. Harris said so.

It seems you guys are trying to take away from this young mans' heart, determination, and WORK ETHIC that has been instilled in him and the rest of the team. If I recall correctly, 5 other Broncos placed too.

Dewberry is my dawg and I appreciate having him (he has tremendous knowledge of the sport). But I've been at coaching for a while (at the collegiate level) and can stand on my own.

Raul,

I actually did confer with the Zebra about it. He did not feel it was a wrestling rules questions, but rather a G.M.A.C. guidelines issue. He gave me his impressions and I wrote my opinion largely based on that. My conclusion as well as the Ref's and a couple others who's judgement I trust was that no G.M.A.C. rules were violated because Mr. Dewberry does in fact have G.M.A.C. clarence to be around student athletes. I have already expressed this opinion, but I hope this further clarifies the issue.

Now I know you are smoking that wacky tabacky.

Hall is not a lock to win the region, he did well to win the G.M.A.C. but he is pretty much a lock to travel to Lakeland as one the the top 4 103lbers from Dade.

Like you said before, anythign can happen in regionals.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

Yes it can, but this little warrior will make it through. I wish there was some way we could make a little side wager on this one, I would be willing to give you odds, 3 to 1 sounds fair. That he qualifies VS that he does not qualify that is.

Anonymous said...

Hall is without a doubt the best wrestler at 103. However, size is his only obstacle which he was able to overcome at GMAC's.

I think that if he wrestled Armani Harris on the 2nd day of regionals, especially in the finals, Harris would have an advantage. Oliveira is another one that can give him problems.

Last weekend, Hall without a doubt earned that GMAC title.

Anonymous said...

I really don't know why people are hating so much on dewberry .All these coaches that are or have complained about this respectful man (Dewberry) will regret that when in their district they get an official that is lost and blows a call that would impede their kid from advancing to regionals and maybe states .all you cry babies will soon see the results of your stupidness of calling the state about some dumb shit like that. Because i knot C.Dewberry and he will sit out just to be able to coach his kid. and all you retards most likely just lost the second ranked official in dade county (the heart of wrestling in FL.). And if you are an official and know what you are doing there should be absolutely no reason why you should feel intimidated by dewberry's presence in the corner. Earl Hall did a great job and won all three matches with respect and dignity not one close call that could've gone both ways went to earl .agaisnt Coral Reef even less the official i guess felt that the victory should've been based on skills and not on the official. the coral reef kid could;ve been DQ in the first period just on stalling and he wasn't so does that prove a point to all those shit talkers ? yes it does .

I understand what you are trying to articulate even though you struggled a bit to frame it coherently.

Do you know something we don’t? Are you stating that Mr. Dewberry is going to forgo his duties as one of Dade’s best officials because an insignificant minority has made some negative points about the situation with him in Halls corner?

I don’t think you know Mr. Dewberry as well as you think?

Mr. Dewberry is a consummate professional and I don’t believe he would let a few internet “Haters” as you call them affect his professional and personal disposition.

130 Lovette Hmst drops from 135 as well as Figueroa Gol and Gonzalez MH.

135 Montero stays at 140.

140 Watson Hmst drops to 140.

152 Garcia Am drops to 152 Clarke takes 160

160 Encarnacion was going to drop, but stayed after Garcia dropped. Alvarez MH moves in.

189 Abadin Col. Moves up to 215.

Dramatic changes at some weight classes. Most of these guys have no idea of the other changes around them.

Anonymous,

Mcpherson SD nor Barrera MS will be dropping. Neither has wrestled 103 the entire year nor do they qualify.

112 Columbus always has huge surprises at this time, problem is the surprise is always on them

119 Williams out Acosta in.
This is probably true. Acosta give SD a better chance at beating Chandler and maybe getting another state finalist.

125 Surprise move from Columbus might affect the 130 class as well.
Once again there will be no surprise here. Rio will not travel to 119 nor will Guillisien drop to 125. Nice to know you blend crap with some real insight.

130 Lovette Hmst drops from 135 as well as Figueroa Gol and Gonzalez MH.
This may also be true since they did not perform that well at GMAC. This would be a wise move for these guys.

135 Montero stays at 140.
Once again this may also be true. The fear of Sanders dropping to 140 makes some people scared but in reality where will they run to, BAEZ? If he plays his cards right he may be the only stud at 140.

140 Watson Hmst drops to 140.
Possible but not likely.

152 Garcia Am drops to 152 Clarke takes 160
Possible but not likely. Both made it to the GMAC finals and were in competitive matches so it makes little to no sense to switch.

160 Encarnacion was going to drop, but stayed after Garcia dropped. Alvarez MH moves in.
Another possible but not likely move. Once again you bring lots of information that gets people riled up but no facts to back up your statements. It feels as if you are just fishing.

189 Abadin Col. Moves up to 215.
This also seems very possible especially since the disaster at GMAC. Their 215 did not look up to snuff and Abadin looked sloppy, tired and out of it at 189. The only problem is that after a season of trash talking I am sure Columbus will want to place as high as possible as a team and that means Abadin at 189.

Good fishing expedition by you Anonymous but no real surprises ahead.

Anonymous # 2,

You are right I wasn't there for everyone of their weigh-ins. You are also right that Anonymous # 1 might actually know something that the rest of us do not. Let's hope he comes back with some more news and details. From what I know I answered his post and maybe you should fill in the blanks with what ever information you have.

Anonymous,

This time of year most coaches have a pretty good grip on who is where; if someone has the scratch weight to qualify most would know. But some will and someone always does cheat.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean someone cheats? Like wrestle a guy at a weight he never made scratch weight at. I don't think any coach will go to that extent.

Yes a coach will do that. Husk did it last year and got away with it because no one challenged him. Gulesian never made 119 all year.

Spiderman said...

Anonymous,

Coaches do go to that extent. THEY DO!

Anonymous said...

Spiderman, if you and others know of this why hasn't something been done?

Anonymous said...

Spiderman, you should have a poll on whether or not coaches should challenge each other for cheating with the scratch weight, is it ethical or not, is it helping or hurting the kids.

Anonymous,

I am not a coach, if I were I think I would definitely address the issue, but it's hard to say what the circumstances are. If the coach in question is a friend and it does not affect one of your kids, then why turn him in. There are many other reasons, but hat is one that readily comes to mind.

On the matter of ethicacy, that one is obvious, it is highly unethical and donw right underhanded. Any coach caught should be suspended.
