Match of the week in my opinion will be American at Braddock tonight.

Also, District 15 duals this week with probably the featured dual meet being Columbus vs. Braddock. The Explorers may be a little too much for the Bulldogs this year as their recruits and young wrestlers of a few years back having gained some experience a actually wrestling good.

Will we see a Montoto vs. Rio this weekend. It sure was a war at Western with Rio winning 8-7.

Anonymous,

That's a nice breakdown, thanks.

American destroys Braddock, 60-16 (if I'm not mistaken).

I watched it and was impressed with American. Honestly, Braddock did not look good. So it was a combo of American looking good (top 3 in Dade in my opinion) and Braddock flat.

Some may have to start wondering if Osorio may actually be one of the best coaches not only in Dade but in Florida. To turn Hialeah around in a very short time and now doing it at American early in the season is impressive.

I noticed Braddock had some key guys out of the line up. Eric Chandler, Mario Montoto, and at least one other starter who looked good against the Ridge last week.

I know E.Chandler is injured, is Montoto and the other guy injured as well. Not that it would have made a difference in the outcome of the dual meet, but those are 3 key wrestlers for Braddock.

I agree, American looked very impressive.

Spiderman,

I have been patiently waiting a report on the Braddock v. American match. What happened. Why was the score so lopsided. Why was Montoto out. Where is the KW report. Was he there?

Spiderman said...

Moonie,

KW is unusually silent today, maybe he is not used to writing up on losses.

Still no word, but if it comes I will post it.

CoachKW said...

Beautiful mind time.

Match started at 130
Fitz Rodriguez maj Jamal Lattimore
Christian Perez pinned Fernando Baltodono
140 Leo Santibanez dec Yuliani Noriega
145 Danny Villalobos pinned forgot
152 Nicholas Clarke dec Jhonathan Medina
160 George Garcia pinned Danny Perez
171 Damilo Ventura pinned forgot
189 Tommy Perez pinned Steven Caballero
215 Castillo pinned Nathaniel Jean
285 Henry Chirino forfeit
103 American pin
112 American pin
119 Gabe Chandler pin Julian Ore
125 Anthony Johnson pin Sanchez

Missing Eric Chandler, Mario Montoto, and Randy Pineyro will never help a team. Some of the Braddock wrestlers underpreformed in this match.

I was not avoiding this write up, I was busy preparing for the District Duals. I went to pick up mats. Had meetings all day.

I congratulate Osorio and the American Gladiators, I mean the American Patriots. It is pretty amazing the turn around he has had with those wrestlers since this summer.

ElKubiche,

Funny as your comments are, I wonder if you know that he is not at Hialeah anymore. Besides that, the kings of the state are still the Bucks of South Dade. Great job by Osorio and American but they are nowhere close to the Bucks. FYI, they still have to get by Southridge and South West to lay claim to anything in this county. Also remember that Braddock was missing three studs that would have made the score a bit closer. Columbus is also out there and they beat American in a head to head tournament. Kubiche, have fun and brag just like djarp, but know that the Bucks are still kings.

Dr. Doom,

I seem to be on your wrong side yet again. Sorry about the spelling. Thanks for correcting me before mrgrammar guy does. Yes, the 'BUCS' are kings of the gay pirates as well as any other group in Florida. I hope that doesn't get the djarp anal explorer angry. I think he wants to be the only anal explorer guy on this site.

American will beat Southridge as well. SR is strong in the upper weights, but American is even stronger there. And Southwest won't give American as much of a hard fight as SR and Braddock.

Columbus beat American in the western tournament because American didn't have a full team. Around 3-4 guys didn't wrestle the second day, and they still pulled out with 3rd place.

American is 2nd in this county, imo.

Miami Dade's Top 5 right now.

1 South Dade, too much fire power for everyone in Dade County. Who else can loose 2 starters (returning State Qualifiers) and not notice a let down from the team.
2 American, I think their average kids are a notch above the other teams in consideration.
3 Columbus, looked real impressive in the win over Braddock. Every weight class is a name most of the coaches know. Seemed in better shape this weekend, then when I saw them against Miami High last week.
4 Southridge, for the first time in years Johnson hasn't been hit by the "moving" bug. If he can get the younger guys to believe he could jump up this poll.
5 Braddock, the past 10 days or so have been rough on the Bulldogs. After the great win over Southridge, this have not gone so well. This team has not had the same line up in back to back events all season. Injuries are pilling up. If they were to wrestle American and Columbus at the end of the season, I think the scores would be a lot different. Tejada needs to take get some of these kids to believe and learn how to finish.

At the end of the season and 4 of these teams could finish #2, they each have a couple of STUDS, it just depends on who gets more other kids to show up on that day.

Southwest: waiting for the injuries to clear up.
Coral Gables: things are looking up, but those kids need to wrestle with some confidence.
Palmetto: they impressed me in the South Dade dual meet, I just don't know if they have enough fire power to break the top 5.
HML: the wrestlers seem to be kind of erratic. Sometimes they look like world beaters and other times they look kind of average.
Sunset: had a good core group of JV kids today. Haven't had a chance to watch their Varsity too much. Chinchilla looked real impressive last weekend.

Anonymous said...

Now that we have had a chance to see some wrestling this is my opinion on the top 10 teams right now.
1. South Dade
2. Columbus
3. American
4. South Ridge
5. Miami High
6. Sunset
7. Hialeah Miami Lakes
8. Palmetto
9. Braddock
10. Homestead

Will this change as the season progresses yes and I hope it does, it is better for the sport. Some of these teams are improving everyday while others will not finish when it counts. I actually think that the 2 spot this year, just as in NCAA football, is up for grabs. All of these teams have the potential of ending there, including South Dade. Laugh if you want at that but, in sports just as in life anything can happen.
