"The Streak"

I was very impressed with the Documentary last night, and I think the wrestling community at large should be pleased with the Documentary because of the positive attention it brings, and on a national level to boot.

The show gave great perspective on the Brandon machine, the dedication is takes to maintain such an entity, and the pride behind the thousands of kids that have benefited from the program.

I was further impressed with Coach Cozart; I admire his singular dedication to his family, to his team, and to his school and community. Brandon is a great example of what can be accomplished with a great amount of dedication and perseverance.

The Brandon parents should also be commended; the support system they have engineered for those kids is second to none, and people like Cesar Grajales should accept the credit that is due them for being an integral cog in the Brandon machine.

I enjoyed the Documentary very much, I like the program better now that I know more about it. I saw a human, vulnerable, and emotional side of Coach Cozart that I would not have known was there if not for this film. I believed Coach Cozart when he stated that he started the Graves so that they would get beat, but all the while doing his damndest to prolong it. He was gracious in defeat, and it seemed to me that he was even a little relieved though obviously saddened.

My congratulations one final time to Brandon for having their streak end in such a sporting and memorable fashion. My Congratulations to South Dade and to Coach Victor Balmeceda for their fantastic performance and the graciousness they showed in victory. And my Congratulations to ESPN, and the Wrestling community for being the beneficiaries of such a fine broadcast.

Kevin is probably the most underappreciated and misunderstood person in our Miami Dade wrestling
community. No one gives more to to the sport. He is a positive influence and a voice of reason at the High school, Middle school, and FAWA levels. The perceptions and opinions of his relationship with Vic and the South Dade are prime examples of how the public is really in the dark.

If Brandon had not held back Bruno, Glass, and Koziel, would SD still been able to stop the streak?

yes south dade won, but there is a reason they came up here this year. this is one of brandon's weakest years and they still won a state title. i hope they wrestle next year so that south dade can get spanked.

Yes South Dade won BUT, BUT, BUT??? They came up on one of Brandon's weakest years Blah, Blah Blah!!!! South Dade waited 5 years to get into the tournamnet you are right "BUT" Brandon waited 29 years to start the damn thing! You don't think South Dade had teams in the 90's - 2003 that could have beat Brandon? Quit your crying and suck it up the "Streak" is over!

South Dade was the last team to stop Brandon from winning a State title and now they are the team to end their precious streak. Do you think that is just a coincidence?

Sorry there won't be any spankings next year because Dade county and the GMAC just made a rule that South Dade can't wrestle anybody in a dual from another county, State or Country that may have a chance of beating them, maybe in 34 years we may see a rematch.

Nah, that is not how we roll in the county of Dade. Brandon has been invited to South Dade's District Duals. The ball is in Brandon's court now. We will have to see if their county let's them come down to the dirty south. Win or lose South Dade ain't going to hide behind some bullsh*t rule. LET"S GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!

It has been said that perception is reality and whom ever you are you seem like a grown man returning to his mother and suckling on her breast. A great run by Brandon came to an end and you degrade their run by excusing and complaining about who and how they lost. You should respect South Dade and be extremely glad that it was a fellow Floridian team that ended the vaunted streak and not some out of town team who would defile your accomplishment by stating that Florida could not compete at the level of other states. Consider the consequences of your actions thus far, South Dade has challenged Brandon to come down and play in the dirt. Because of your mouth they must now comply and make arrangements to come down and compete lest they be considered cowards and seem as if they are running away yet again. Shut up and enjoy the great run by Cozart and the Brandon team. Congratulate South Dade and move on in the creation of a new streak.

not only will brandon accept south dade's little challenge, but they
will also beat every single pathetic little school in the way. i hope the toughest district shows up with plenty of backup. we will beat south dade's 18 year old freshmen and 23 year old seniors with a team full of prepubecent boys.

It is funny you bring age up, infact hilarious! That is like the pot calling the kettle black! South Dade isn't the one who holds their kids back 2 years so they could be the oldest in their grade. Brandon is the "king of the middle school red shirt". Those prepubecent boys you are talking about are 16 & 17 year old freshmen and sophmores. You should get your facts straight before you state such ignorant statements.

I love how bold and brave you are knowng that you have 3 state champs and a move in from Arizona coming in next year. Wow, it must be real hard to coach them kids who have been wrestling since birth.

South Dade would have beat Brandon in 96, 97 and maybe more get over it.

South Dade beat Brandon by 50 pts at state in 2000, they would have beaten them then too but the Graves didn't exist. I wonder what took Brandon so long to start that tournament in the first place?

I was informed that SD recuited a couple of Homestead and Sunset wrestlers. Did I mention a state champ!!! Please don't say they belonged to SD along. I hope they win states again but not that way. That isn't right, specially for the other schools that work so hard without recuiting. What SD can't win it with their own guys? They take all the fun away from the sport.
